A coastal site at the mouth of river Löddeån that is a magnet for a variety of rarities.
Löddesnäs is located at the coast of Lomma bay where the river Löddeån reaches the sea. It is a well known resting and roosting area for shorebirds, ducks ans has proven to be a magnet for a variety of rarities. The birdingtower gives a good view of the shores but it is also worth taking the path out in the reeds. Apart from the path to the birding tower and the foot bridge in the reeds the area is restricted between 15/4 to 15/7.
In late summer the site is good for a wide variety of waders and a reliable spot to see Καρατζάς. In the autumn the marshes east of the tower are a good place for (Κοινό) Μπεκατσίνι, Κουφομπεκάτσινο and ocassionally Διπλομπεκάτσινο. In the winter the mouth of the river is a good place for (Ευρασιατικός) Ήταυρος. Along the river Υφάντρα is breeding and in the fall they can be seen in the reeds arround the tower together with Μουστακαλής.
By bus take nr 137 from Malmö C to Bjärred Löjtnantsvägen, and the walk the last bit. By car, drive to N Bjärred, follow Västanvägen to the site, the entrance is via the small dirt road in the corner when Västanvägen turns S.
Please notice that, apart from the footbridge and the path to the tower, the site is restricted between 15/4 to 15/7.
