Description
The Lillfjärden lake is primarily known for its geese. Barnacle Goose, Σταχτόχηνα, and Canada Goose all breed. The lake also holds the entire swedish non-breeding population of Νανόχηνα. Other geese like Ασπρομέτωπη Χήνα, Χωραφόχηνα, Pink-footed Goose can often be found. Some years Tundra Bean Goose and Δαχτυλιδόχηνα are also found during migration periods.
The lakes rocky coast is also often home to waders like Μαυρότρυγγας, Κοκκινοσκέλης, Ποταμοσφυριχτής (breeds), (Ευρωπαϊκός) Στρειδοφάγος (breeds), and Μαχητής. The lake holds large amounts of Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια and smaller amounts of other dabbling ducks. Even species which are rare in northern areas like Καπακλής, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα. Smaller amounts of diving ducks can often be found. Wintering (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βομβυκίλα and Pine Grosbeak are often found. Although the numbers vary widely.

The lake lies directly north to the center of Hudiksvall. There are many places to park the car. Click on the P in the map to get directions. You can make a circular walk around the lake (2,5 km).
