Description
The Ledskär area has four bird towers, one of which is located at the edge of a very shallow bay which is super popular amongst waterfowl like Ψαλίδα (του Βορά), (Ευρωπαϊκό) Σφυριχτάρι and Ασπρομέτωπη Χήνα as well as waders like Κοκκινοσκέλης, Μαυρότρυγγας, (Ευρασιατική) Τουρλίδα and Αμμοσφυριχτής. Ledskär is also a good place to see Καρατζάς and (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσαετός. This bird tower is far away from the waters edge so bring a spotting scope.
From the harbour one can have a closer look over the water, but it is difficult to see over the bay, a new birdtower is planned to be built here. West of the parking area there is a marsh and a forest full of birds.
During spring and autumn migration local rarities like Χιονάδα, Βραχοσκαλίδρα, Ραβδοσκαλίδρα and Νανοπρίστης can regularly been seen around Ledskär.
A new birding tower was build at the pier during 2021.
