Sada - Ría de Betanzos | Birdingplaces

Sada is a fishing village on the banks of the Betanzos estuary. The estuary, as well as the beach, the permanent stream that flows into it and the large expanse of muddy intertidal zone, concentrate a large number of birds. With the fall of the tide, the silts are discovered and the stream runs through the intertidal by its natural channel. Numerous seagulls gather around it, coming to bathe in fresh water and then grooming themselves and resting in the intertidal or on the sand, making it easy to observe Καστανοκέφαλος Γλάρος, Μαυροκέφαλος Γλάρος, Θυελλόγλαρος, Ασημόγλαρος της Μεσογείου, Μελανόγλαρος, Ασημόγλαρος του Βορά and Γιγαντόγλαρος, although also sometimes rarer gulls such as Νανόγλαρος, Ring-billed Gull, Bonaparte's Gull and Ασημόγλαρος της Κασπίας have been observed.

It is also a very good place to observe a good number of ducks, especially during winter, such as (Βουβός) Κύκνος, Καπακλής, Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια, Ψαλίδα (του Βορά),(Ευρωπαϊκό) Κιρκίρι, Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Μαυρόπαπια. In addition, it also has observations of rare ducks such as American Black Duck, Σταχτόπαπια, Lesser Scaup, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα, (Ευρωπαϊκη) Βαλτόπαπια, Γκισάρι, Θαλασσοπρίστης, Ασπρομέτωπη Χήνα, Δαχτυλιδόχηνα, Αγριόκυκνος and Φοινικόσιηνα.

It is also important to take a look at the center of the estuary during winter, as groups of up to 100 (Ευρωπαϊκή) Μαυρόπαπια and some Παγοβούτι, Κηλιδοβούτι, Razorbill, Υδροβάτης, Μαυροβουτηχτάρι can turn up. In addition to the common Χειμωνογλάρονο, which are accompanied from time to time by some (Ευρωπαϊκό) Νανογλάρονο or Ποταμογλάρονο. It also regularly sees some Βελουδόπαπια and already has two sightings of the very rare Surf Scoter. Some waders and ardeids can also be seen feeding in the intertidal area or resting on the beach.

Sada es una villa marinera a orillas de la ría de Betanzos. La ría, así como la playa, el riachuelo permanente que desemboca en ella y la gran extensión de zona intermareal fangosa y cubierta en su mayoría por el alga Zostera, concentran una gran cantidad de aves. También es un muy buen lugar para observar un buen número de anátidas, especialmente durante la invernada, como (Βουβός) Κύκνος , Καπακλής , Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια , (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια , Ψαλίδα (του Βορά) ,(Ευρωπαϊκό) Κιρκίρι , Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια , (Ευρωπαϊκή) Μαυρόπαπια. Además, también cuenta con observaciones de anátidas raras y escasas como American Black Duck , Σταχτόπαπια , Lesser Scaup , (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα , (Ευρωπαϊκη) Βαλτόπαπια , Γκισάρι , Θαλασσοπρίστης , Surf Scoter , Ασπρομέτωπη Χήνα , Δαχτυλιδόχηνα , Αγριόκυκνος , Φοινικόσιηνα.

También es importante echar un vistazo al centro de la ría durante el invierno, ya que se suelen ver grupos de hasta unos 100 (Ευρωπαϊκή) Μαυρόπαπια y algún Παγοβούτι , Κηλιδοβούτι , Razorbill , Υδροβάτης , Μαυροβουτηχτάρι ... Además de los comunes Χειμωνογλάρονο , a los que acompaña de cuando en vez algún (Ευρωπαϊκό) Νανογλάρονο o Ποταμογλάρονο . Regularmente también se observa algún Βελουδόπαπια y ya cuenta con dos avistamientos del muy raro Surf Scoter. Algunos limícolas y ardeidas también pueden verse alimentándose en el intermareal o descansando en la playa.

Access

Sada is located just 12 km from A Coruña and 9 km from Betanzos, so it can be reached quite quickly from the A-6 motorway. It can be reached via the AC-162, AC-163 or AC-183 highways, among others. The access roads do not usually have a lot of traffic and are in good condition. Once you reach Sada, there may be more traffic and it may not be easy to find a parking space despite the different free parking spaces available. Click on a P in the map for directions.

Espagnol: Sada está situado a tan solo 12 km de A Coruña y 9 km de Betanzos, por lo que se llega bastante rápido desde la autovía A-6. Se puede llegar mediante las carreteras AC-162, AC-163 o AC-183, entre otras. Las carreteras de acceso no suelen tener mucho tráfico y se encuentran en buenas condiciones. Una vez se llega a Sada, puede haber más tráfico y no ser fácil encontrar plaza de aparcamiento pese a los diferentes párkings gratuitos disponibles.
