Embalse de Montijo - Guadaljucen is the point where the Aljuncen river flows into the Guadiana river. Being very close to the city of Mérida, the area is worth visiting to enjoy the birds that can be observed in the area. Especially under the bridge (Ex-209 Highway) there is an important colony of Λευκοχελίδονο. You can also observe different aquatic and other bird species in the area.

Espagnol: La zona es conocida como Guadaljucen. Se trata de la desembocadura del río Aljucén en el río Guadiana. La desembocadura del rio Aljuncen sobre el Guadiana, lo hace en el Embalse de Montijo, esta zona podriamos denominarla como la cola del Aljucén. Al estar muy próximo a la ciudad de Mérida, merece pasase por la zona a disfrutar de las aves que se pueden observar por la zona. En especial debajo del puente (Carretera EX-209) exixte una importante colonia de Λευκοχελίδονο Tambien se pueden observar diferentes especies acuáticas y ardeidas en la zona.

Access
Taking the Ex-209 road from Mérida towards Montijo and just before taking the bridge over the Aljucen river, take the exit on the right (which leads to a fruit and vegetable center), and immediately make a left turn to cross the road (see the map). Once crossed you can park the car. Click on the P in the map for directions. Leave the car and walk a few meters until you see the water.

Espagnol: Tomando la carretera Ex-209 desde Mérida dirección Montijo y justo antes de tomar el puente sobre el río Aljucen, nos encontraremos una raqueta a nuestra derecha. Se trata de la entrada a una central hortofruticola. aremos el stop y cruzaremos perpendicularmente la carretera. Una vez cruzada a nuestra derecha sale un camino. esa zona será buena opción para dejar el coche y andar unos metros hasta observar la lámina de agua.
