The Almendral park is surrounded by urbanizations. Even so, the nearby pine forests serve as a refuge for nocturnal birds of prey like (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κουκουβάγια and Νανόμπουφος that use it to hunt. The area is especially interesting on spring nights. You can see almost all species of nocturnal birds of prey. The (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κουκουβάγια, Χουχουριστής, Νανόμπουφος and the (Κοινός) Μπούφος stand out. The Ανθρωποπούλλι is very rare, as well as the (Ευρωπαϊκός) Γκιώνης, which, if they appear, are expelled by the (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κουκουβάγια. Although they are not birds, the carato dormouse and the ocellated lizard are usually present. It is a place with great diversity and abundance of orchids. It also houses Roman and 18th and 19th century archaeological remains. A very diverse place.
