Description

Casas de Hitos is an area of ricefields where thousands of (Ευρωπαϊκός) Γερανός can be seen from October to early March. Also large numbers of Λευκός Πελαργός and Γαλαζολαίμης overwinter here. Huge concentrations of passage waders stop here for a few weeks every autumn and spring, including (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα, Μαχητής, (Κοινή) Νανοσκαλίδρα, Σταχτιά Νανοσκαλίδρα, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αβοκέτα, Λασποσκαλίδραand (Ευρωπαϊκό) Βροχοπούλι. (Κοινό) Νεροχελίδονο and Ποταμοσφυριχτής breed here when the fields are dry. (Ευρωπαϊκό) Ψευταηδόνι, Red Avadavat, Common Waxbill, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κιστικόλη and Ορφεοστριτσίδα are numerous. Μεγάλη Ωτίδα and Χαμωτίδα can be seen here, but the tall vegetation makes it rather difficult, and Μαυροπεριστερόκοτα often give good views. Έλανος breed and feed in the area.
