North of Valencia, the small river Barranc del Carraixet flows into the Mediterranean Sea. At this spot the stream is densely overgrown with plants and reeds and often many interesting birds can be found here. It is easy to walk or cycle along the banks and observe the birds well from there. Birds you can encounter here are gulls, terns, herons and ducks. For example (Ευρασιατικό) Φερεντίνι, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Μικροτσικνιάς, Πορφυροτσικνιάς, (Ξανθός) Κρυπτοτσικνιάς, (Ευρασιατική) Χαλκόκοτα, Μαυροκέφαλος Γλάρος, Αιγαιόγλαροςand Χειμωνογλάρονο. But also birds like Τσαλαπετεινός, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κιστικόλη, Μυoψιττακός, Πράσινος Παπαγάλος and Μαυροτσιροβάκος. Best time to visit with most birds is winter and spring. But summer still sees enough birds to enjoy the place and for example Σουλτανοπουλάδα can be spotted very well all year round at the Barranc del Carraixet.
