If you are visiting nearby hotspots of Labudovo okno, upriver, or Djerdap National Park downriver, these sandy grasslands with beautiful Needle grasses (Stipa) and groves of Locust Trees, near the village of Požeženo, are worthy of a d-tour.
Characteristic birds of these dry and sunny areas are Καμπίσια Πέρδικα , (Ευρωπαϊκό) Τρυγόνι , Γερακαετός (with a bit of luck), Λιβαδόκιρκος , Τσαλαπετεινός , (Ευρωπαϊκός) Μελισσοφάγος , (Ευρωπαϊκός) Συκοφάγος , Αετομάχος , Σταχτοκεφαλάς , Σκορταλλός , Ωχροκελάδα , and Βλαχοτσίχλονο.
Carry plenty of water on hot days.

Access
120 km or 1 h and 45 minutes’ drive from Belgrade. The new road construction works may cause some traffic disruptions. Zoom in on the map and click on the "P" (parking) sign for driving directions.
By car accessible from the Veliko Gradište to Požeženo road. From the turn-off (P), there are 2 km of badly-potholed tarmac leading to cattle farms, becoming a dirt track after the second farm. Park wherever you like. Explore by walking, or further driving.
I have never reached the sewage ponds to the west of the farms, but they are the reason for the waterbirds overhead and, if accessible, may be worthy of a visit during migration.
