Description

Lake Bovan is a 9 km long and 50m deep water reservoir on the Moravica mountain river. Many waterfowl find the eastern part of the lake's deep waters attractive as an overwintering destination. Λαμπροβούτι, Κηλιδοβούτι, Χηνοπρίστης, Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι, Μαυροβουτηχτάρι, and Βαρβάρα are mostly regular. The first record of Παγοβούτι for Serbia was also recorded here. The western part of the lake with its shallow waters is an ideal place for shorebirds during migration, as Lake Bovan is on an important migration corridor.
