Description
Łazienki Park is spacious and full of life. Best to visit in the morning when people are not there yet. Note that it's open from 6 am. Two pairs of Χουχουριστής can be heard at night. If you ask a local birder they will be happy to show you where they spend their day. Mandarin Duck, Χηνοπρίστης and Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια nest in the park. A pair of (Κοινός) Κόρακας breed here every year as well.
The park is known for the many woodpecker species that can be seen here. It's difficult not to see Πράσινος Δρυοκολάπτης, Πευκοδρυοκολάπτης and Μεσαίος Δρυοκολάπτης on your visit. If you have a bit more luck you might see Νανοδρυοκολάπτης, Μαύρος Δρυοκολάπτης or a Βαλκανικός Δρυοκολάπτης. Various songbirds breed here, Δεντροτσοπανάκος is very common. In May and June you might spot a Μαυρομυγοχάφτης or Σταχτομυγοχάφτης in the part of the park where horses used to be held.
