In this forest you can find a lot of cultural heritage, such as burial mounds, ramparts and drifting sand. And many birds.
Zuiderbosch and Hulshorsterzand are part of the Veluwe, one of the largest natural areas in the Netherlands. This part of the Veluwe is an area where forest and heather alternate. The climax of this walk comes as soon as you reach the Hulshorsterzand. This is one of the few large connected drift sand areas in the Netherlands. So in this area you can see birds of forest and heather like (Ευρωπαϊκό) Γιδοβύζι, different kinds of woodpeckers, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Σφηκιάρης and (Κοινός) Κόρακας. Hulshorsterzand is one of the few places in the Netherlands where you can find Ωχροκελάδα.
