Beautiful area with a transition from dune area to a polder. The clean and calcareous water flows from the dunes into the Volgerland. That attracts many birds (and special plants like orchids). The area is important for meadow birds and everywhere you can see (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα and singing (Κοινή) Σιταρήθρα. Also (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα, Κοκκινοσκέλης, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Στρειδοφάγος and Κιτρινοσουσουράδα. (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρομύτα and (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια forage in the creek. In winter you can see (Ευρωπαϊκό) Βροχοπούλι, Λασποσκαλίδρα, Μαυρότρυγγας, Πρασινοσκέλης and other waders in the Volgerland. And large groups of Δαχτυλιδόχηνα. In spring and early summmer (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα fiercely defend their young against (Σταχτιά) Κουρούνα flying overhead. Next to meadow birds in Volgerland you can see birds from reedbeds like Σχοινοποταμίδα and Μουστακαλής and birds from thickets like Κιτρινοστριτσίδα. The Volgerland is right next to the beach. At low tide you can see seals on the sandbanks off the coast. Moreover, in winter you can often see Κηλιδοβούτι, Θαλασσοπρίστης and various types of grebes without a telescope. And on the beach Λευκοσκαλίδρα.

De wandeling die je hier kunt maken is een mooie combinatie van vogels kijken aan zee en het zien van rietvogels en weidevogels. Prachtig gebied met overgang van duingebied naar polder. Het schone en kalkhoudende water stroomt vanuit de duinen het Volgerland in. Dat trekt veel vogels (en bijzondere planten zoals orchideeën) aan. Het gebied is belangrijk voor weidevogels en overal zie je (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα en zingende (Κοινή) Σιταρήθρα. Ook (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα, Κοκκινοσκέλης, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Στρειδοφάγος en Κιτρινοσουσουράδα. (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρομύτα en (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια foerageren in de kreek. In de winter zie je (Ευρωπαϊκό) Βροχοπούλι, Λασποσκαλίδρα, Μαυρότρυγγας, Πρασινοσκέλης en andere steltlopers in het Volgerland. En grote groepen Δαχτυλιδόχηνα en Barnacle Goose. In het voorjaar en de vroege zomer verdedigen (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα hun jongen fel tegen (Σταχτιά) Κουρούνα die boven hun hoofd vliegen. Naast weidevogels in Volgerland zie je rietvogels zoals Σχοινοποταμίδα en Μουστακαλής en struweelvogels zoals Κιτρινοστριτσίδα. Het Volgerland ligt pal naast het strand. Bij eb kun je zeehonden zien op de zandbanken voor de kust. Bovendien kun je hier in de winter vaak zonder telescoop Κηλιδοβούτι, Θαλασσοπρίστης en verschillende soorten futen zien. En op het strand Λευκοσκαλίδρα.

Access
The Volgerland is located on the northwest point of Goeree Overflakkee. You can park in the parking lot next to the lighthouse Westhoofd. From there a nice walk of 5 km runs through the Volgerland. The route is shown on the map and in the field marked with white arrows.

Nederlands: Het Volgerland ligt op de noordwestpunt van Goeree Overflakkee. Parkeren kan op het parkeerterrein naast de vuurtoren Westhoofd. Van daaruit loopt een mooie wandeling van 5 km door het Volgerland. De route wordt weergegeven op de kaart beneden. In het veld is de route gemarkeerd met witte pijlen.
