Description
Ae's Woudbloem is a beautiful area for walking with some nice hiking trails on unpaved paths. The area is popular with bird watchers. The Γαλαζολαίμης, Μουστακαλής, Θαμνοτριλιστής and (Μεγάλο) Καλαμοτσίχλονο hide in the waving culms, but you will also see many birds of prey, meadow birds, waders, ducks and geese.

Nederlands: Ae’s Woudbloem is een mooi gebied om te wandelen. Het heeft een gevarieerd landschap met gras en struwelen, lage plassen en hoger gelegen zandkoppen. Hier liggen een aantal mooie wandelroutes over onverharde paden. Het gebied is geliefd bij vogelaars. In de wuivende halmen schuilen de blauwborst, het baardmannetje, de sprinkhaanzanger en de rietgors, maar je ziet er ook veel roofvogels, weidevogels, steltlopers, eenden en ganzen.

Access
The area is accessible all year round on roads and trails. There is a small parking lot at the intersection Slochterdiep - Hooilandsweg and another small parking lot next to the bridge at the kayak pier, transition Woudbloemlaan - Slochter Ae. Click on a P in the map for directions to a parking lot. The walking route indicated on the map is about 5 km long. Think of waterproof footwear in wet periods.

Nederlands: Het gebied is het hele jaar toegankelijk op wegen en paden. Er is een kleine parkeerplaats bij de kruising Slochterdiep - Hooilandsweg en een andere kleine parkeerplaats naast brug bij kanosteiger, overgang Woudbloemlaan - Slochter Ae. Ae’s Woudbloem is part of Roegwold nature reserve. This is a wetland area with peat marshes, reed beds, small forests and water plains that run from Kolham to Schildmeer. Originally it was a low moor area, then it became agricultural land, but in recent years nature has been allowed to take its course.

Dit is een waterrijk gebied met veenmoeras, rietlanden, kleine bosjes en watervlaktes dat loopt van Kolham tot aan het Schildmeer. Van oorsprong was het een laagveengebied, daarna werd het landbouwgrond, maar de afgelopen jaren mag de natuur er haar gang gaan.
