Description
The Staelduinse Bos is an elongated forest of 95 hectares. You have two parking areas from where you walk into the forest. From both parking areas you immediately walk into a section with many old trees. Many bunkers from the Second World War can be found between the trees. The area also has a lot of difference in height and there are regularly nice observations to be made. You regularly encounter Πευκοδρυοκολάπτης, (Κοινός) Θαμνοψάλτης, (Κοινή) Τσίχλα, (Κοινός) Σπίνος, (Κοινή) Γερακίνα, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κίσσα and if you are a bit lucky you will also encounter Πράσινος Δρυοκολάπτης and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη. But of course also the Καλόγερος, Γαλαζοπαπαδίτσα, Καμποδεντροβάτης and so on. It is also certainly recommended to walk out of the Staelduinse Bos on the south side and look over the meadows. Many geese can be seen here in the winter season.

Nederlands: Het Staelduinse Bos is een langgerekt bos van 95 hectare en is een onderdeel van de Kapittelduinen. Je hebt een tweetal parkeergelegenheden van waar je het bos in loopt. Je loopt vanuit beide parkeerplekken gelijk een gedeelte in met veel oude bomen. Tussen de bomen zijn veel bunkers uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog te vinden. Het gebied heeft ook veel hoogteverschil en er zijn regelmatig leuke waarnemingen te doen. Je treft er regelmatig de Πευκοδρυοκολάπτης, (Κοινός) Θαμνοψάλτης, (Κοινή) Τσίχλα, (Κοινός) Σπίνος, (Κοινή) Γερακίνα, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κίσσα en als je een beetje geluk hebt dan kom je ook nog de Πράσινος Δρυοκολάπτης en (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη tegen. Maar natuurlijk ook de Καλόγερος, Γαλαζοπαπαδίτσα, Καμποδεντροβάτης enzovoort. Het is ook zeker aan te bevelen om even het Staelduinse Bos aan de zuidkant uit te lopen en over de weilanden te kijken. Hier zijn veel ganzen te zien in het winterseizoen.

Access
The Stealduinse Bos is located between the towns of Hoek van Holland and Maassluis. You can park at the Stealduinse Bos car park on the Papedijk or on the Stealduinlaan. Click on a P on the map for directions to a car park. The area can be reached by public transport, get off at Busstop Heenweg, ’s Gravenzande. It is also possible to cycle via the cycle path between Hoek van Holland and Maassluis (via the Bonnepad) through the Stealduinse Bos to 's Gravenzande. There is also a wheelchair-friendly path from the car park on the Stealduinlaan. You can easily enjoy yourself in the area for 1 to 2 hours. The indicated circular walk on the map is approximately 5 km. If you find the old bunkers interesting to see, you can add some extra time. Unfortunately, you cannot enter the bunkers themselves.

Nederlands: Het Stealduinse Bos ligt tussen Hoek van Holland en Maassluis. Je kunt parkeren op het parkeerterrein Stealduinse Bos aan de Papedijk of aan de Stealduinlaan. Klik op een P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar een parkeerplaats. Het gebied is te bereiken per OV, stap uit bij Busstop Heenweg, ’s Gravenzande. Het is ook mogelijk om via het fietspad tussen Hoek van Holland en Maassluis (via het Bonnepad) door het Stealduinse Bos naar 's Gravenzande te fietsen. Vanaf het parkeerterrein aan de Stealduinlaan is ook een rolstoelvriendelijk pad. Je kunt je in het gebied prima 1 tot 2 uur vermaken. De aangegeven rondwandeling op de kaart is ongeveer 5 km. Vind je de oude bunkers interessant om te bekijken, dan kun je er nog wel wat extra tijd bij tellen. Helaas kun je niet in de bunkers zelf.
