Description
The Lazaruswaard is located along the Beusichemse Dijk northeast of the Culemborg city center. The area consists of herb-rich and sparse grassland with a number of marshy parts and a strand. In the marshy lowlands, birds such as Κοκκινοσκέλης, Ποταμοσφυριχτής, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια and (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρομύτα can regularly be seen in spring in the marshy lowlands. (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα is also present. Sometimes a pair of (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα breeds here in the hay meadow. And in some years the rare Ορτυκομάνα can be heard.

Nederlands: De Lazaruswaard is gelegen langs de Beusichemse Dijk ten noordoosten van de Culemborgse binnenstad. Het gebied bestaat uit kruidenrijk en schraal grasland met een aantal moerassige gedeelten en een strang. In de drassige laagte zijn in het voorjaar regelmatig vogels te zien als Κοκκινοσκέλης, Ποταμοσφυριχτής, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια en (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρομύτα. Ook de (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα komt er voor. Een enkel paartje (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα broedt hier soms in het hooiland. Een enkel jaar is de zeldzame Ορτυκομάνα te horen.

You cannot enter the area, but the birds can be observed well from the dike. You can park in the parking lot of the Palumbus site. Click on the P in the map for directions.
