Description
The Hondsbroekse Pleij is a former floodplain that has been redeveloped and is now a high water channel. There are two lakes in the area. Species such as (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Κιρκίρι, Γκισάρι and (Ευρωπαϊκό) Σφυριχτάρι are to be seen on the water. The edges of the lake are often used by waders such as Μαχητής, Λασπότρυγγας and Πρασινοσκέλης. The puddles are a sleeping place for (Ευρασιατική) Τουρλίδα.

Nederlands: De Hondsbroekse Pleij is een voormalige uiterwaard op de plaats waar de IJssel aftakt van de Nederrijn. Vanwege het project Ruimte voor de Rivier is het gebied heringericht en het is nu een een hoogwatergeul. In het gebied liggen twee plassen. Op het water zijn soorten als (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Κιρκίρι, Γκισάρι en (Ευρωπαϊκό) Σφυριχτάρι te zien. De randen van de plas worden veel gebruikt door steltlopers als Μαχητής, Λασπότρυγγας en Πρασινοσκέλης. Ook vormen de plassen een slaapplaats voor (Ευρασιατική) Τουρλίδα.

Access
The Hondsbroekse Pleij can be reached from the IJseldijk, at the bottom of the dike (near the Veerdam) is the possibility to park. Click on the P in the map for directions. The area can be viewed from the Pleijdijk (cycle path), IJsseldijk (motorway, in the slope it is possible to bird safely) and the Veerdam (cycle and cycle path). Watch out for other traffic.

Nederlands: De Hondsbroekse Pleij is bereikbaar vanaf de IJseldijk, onderaan de dijk (t.h.v. de veerdam) is mogelijkheid tot parkeren. Klik op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving. Het gebied is te overzien vanaf de Pleijdijk (fietspad), IJsseldijk (autoweg, in het talud is het mogelijk om veilig te vogelen) en de Veerdam (fiets- en fietspad). Let hierbij op voor overig verkeer.
