Wetlands due to peat harvesting. The mosaic of water, reed, swamp groves and grasslands is good for birding.
A mosaic of water, reed, swamp groves and grasslands in the excavated peat. That is De Deelen, in the heart of the province of Friesland. In autumn and winter, thousands of ducks and geese, including (Ευρωπαϊκό) Σφυριχτάρι, Ασπρομέτωπη Χήνα, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια and Barnacle Goose come to De Deelen.
