Wetland area of 150 hectare with access to the sea. Very diverse birds during migration.
Tivat Saline is a wetland area, with access to the sea and close to the forest. A small area of 150 hectare where many different birds can be seen. The wetland is located on one of the key points on Adriatic migratory corridors for birds (Adriatic Flyway) and one of rare remaining wet coastal habitats for birds. Due to abundant food in shallow waters, it attracts birds in abundance. Very common birds are cormorants, grebes, coots, and certain species of ducks, while snipes and different species of herons regularly feed in the area throughout the year. Macchia, shrub and open areas in spring and autumn attract numerous species of smaller songbirds. Among the birds you can see are Στικτοπουλάδα,Καλαμοκανάς, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αβοκέτα, Αμμοσφυριχτής, Ποταμοσφυριχτής, Θαλασσοσφυριχτής, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα, Ακτίτης, Κοκκινοσκέλης, Λασπότρυγγας, (Κοινό) Νεροχελίδονο, Τσιφτάς, Λιβαδοκελάδα, Δεντροκελάδα, (Κοινός) Θαμνοψάλτης, Σταχτοπετρόκλης, Μαυρολαίμης, Βαρβάρα and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα.
