Description
In the lower wooded part of the Magaro Mountain area, Central European woodland species can be expected, including (Κοινός) Πύρρουλας, Νανοδρυοκολάπτης, tits and others. As soon as you leave the tree line behind, classic species of the high mountains can be observed, including (Ευρωπαϊκό) Βραχοχελίδονο, Χιονάδα, Πυροκότσυφας, Κιτρινοκαλιακούδα and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκελάδα. There are regular sightings of the elusive and sought-after Πετροπέρδικα. In addition, (Κοινή) Σιταρήθρα, Μαυρολαίμης, Καστανολαίμης and Γερακότσιχλα can be found on the plains. It is worth keeping an eye on the sky to look for raptors such as (Ευρωπαϊκός) Σφηκιάρης and Φιδαετός.

Access
Magaro Mountain has a hikers' car park on the road from where hiking trails go directly up. Click on the P in the map for directions. Aroundf the car park you can already look for Ωχροκελάδα and Αετομάχος. The path is well signposted and leads through the forest for about 30 minutes and then continues in the open terrain. There is no connection to public transport. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 8 km.
