The village of Lapmezciems is located in a great area for birding. The west side of the village borders directly on the birdrich Lake Kanieris (described in a separate entry on Birdingplaces), the east side of Lapmezciems is on the Gulf of Riga. In the direct surroundings of the village you can see birds like Αργυροτσικνιάς, (Βουβός) Κύκνος, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσαετός, Βαρβάρα, (Κοινή) Πουπουλόπαπια, Βελουδόπαπια, Χιονόπαπια, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη, Μαύρος Πελαργός and Γιγαντόγλαρος.
