Area Naturalistica Casino Riva near Ronco All'Adige is an old clay quarry that is now a nature reserve. The reserve can sadly not be entered. Only in guided tours it's possible to enter the park, but even from the outside if you walk around it, the reserve is very worth it.
You start your walk at a big reedbed where you can easily hear and spot (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κιστικόλη. It continues to a small village with a big koi breeding facility where an immense amount of (Ευρασιατική) Δεκαοχτούρα and sometimes some waders and herons are around. Already there you start to notice many water birds crossing in and out the nature reserve such as Λαγγόνα, Γελαδάρης, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Κορμοράνος and, very interesting, ιερή ibis.
Then your walk continues past some fields with sometimes geese and ducks and leads through another village to a narrow dirt road that leads to a closed gate. Through the bushes on the left hand side of the road you can get a glimpse of the nature reserve and see the few observation towers. In the bushes you can very loudly hear Μαυροσκούφης, Σκαρθάκι and (Ευρωπαϊκό) Ψευταηδόνι singing, on the road you maybe spot a (Κοινός) Φασιανός.
The whole area is also a paradise for raptors. In the open parts you can see (Κοινή) Γερακίνα, Τσίφτης, (Κοινό) Ξεφτέρι and Πετρίτης, more in the area of the wetlands you can see Καλαμόκιρκος and Ψαραετός.

Italiano: L'Area Naturalistica Casino Riva, nei pressi di Ronco all'Adige, è una vecchia cava di argilla oggi divenuta riserva naturale. Purtroppo non è possibile accedervi liberamente: l'ingresso al parco è consentito solo con visite guidate, ma vale la pena farci un salto anche solo per passeggiare lungo il perimetro esterno.
Inizi la camminata presso un ampio canneto dove puoi facilmente avvistare o sentire il (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κιστικόλη. Il percorso prosegue verso un piccolo villaggio con un grande allevamento di carpe koi, dove si radunano un’immensa quantità di (Ευρασιατική) Δεκαοχτούρα e, talvolta, alcuni limicoli e aironi. Già da lì inizierai a notare molti uccelli acquatici che entrano ed escono dalla riserva naturale, come il Λαγγόνα, l' Γελαδάρης, il (Ευρωπαϊκός) Κορμοράνος e, cosa molto interessante, l' ιερή ibis.
La passeggiata prosegue poi costeggiando alcuni campi, dove a volte si vedono oche e anatre, e attraversa un altro villaggio fino a una stretta strada sterrata che termina davanti a un cancello chiuso. Attraverso i cespugli sul lato sinistro della strada, si può intravedere la riserva naturale e scorgere le poche torrette di osservazione. Tra i rovi si sente chiaramente il canto della Μαυροσκούφης, del Σκαρθάκι e dell' (Ευρωπαϊκό) Ψευταηδόνι, mentre sulla strada è possibile avvistare un (Κοινός) Φασιανός.
L'intera zona è anche un paradiso per i rapaci. Nelle aree aperte puoi avvistare la (Κοινή) Γερακίνα, il Τσίφτης, lo (Κοινό) Ξεφτέρι e il Πετρίτης, mentre spostandosi verso le zone umide è possibile vedere il Καλαμόκιρκος e il Ψαραετός.

Area Naturalistica Casino Riva is located west of the town of Ronco All'Adige. The nature reserve cannot be entered. The area is easily accesible by car, there is even a bus (138) driving from Verona. For information on guided walks you can mail to verona@faigiovani.fondoambiente.it
