Description
The KM 19 pool is famous for its Lichtenstein's Sandgrouse that come in to drink at dusk. The pool is also good for ducks, herons and waders. Among the birds that can be seen are (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα, Ψαλίδα (του Βορά), Αγκαθοκαλημάνα, Σμυρναλκυόνη, Παρδαλοκεφαλάς, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Φοινικόπτερο, (Ευρωπαϊκη) Βαλτόπαπια, Νανομελισσοφάγος, Καλαμοκανάς, Μαχητής, Πρασινοσκέλης, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρομύτα, Λεπτόραμφος Γλάρος, Καρατζάς, Καλαμόκιρκος, Πορφυροτσικνιάς, (Κοινός) Νυχτοκόρακας and (Ευρωπαϊκός) Μικροτσικνιάς. Access
The ponds are located 19 km north of Eilat. Come off Route 90 from the south, drive due east. Passable for all kinds of vehicles. Some parts may be muddy at times.
