Description

Margaret Island (Margitsziget) is a 2.8 km long and 500 m wide island in the middle of the river Danube in central Budapest. Its 96.5 hectares area is mostly covered by landscape parks, and is a popular recreational area. The island's attractions include walkways, medieval ruins, a small zoo, a fountain, a water tower, swimming pools, and a lido. Thanks to the old woods, parks, and the river Danube, many birds live or feed on the island.

Birds you can observe on the island or on the river include Καστανοκέφαλος Γλάρος, Ασημόγλαρος της Μεσογείου, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Κορμοράνος, Πευκοδρυοκολάπτης, Μεσαίος Δρυοκολάπτης, Πράσινος Δρυοκολάπτης, Βαλκανικός Δρυοκολάπτης, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Κοκκοθραύστης, Γερακότσιχλα, Χουχουριστής, (Κοινό) Αηδόνι, Αιγίθαλος, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Φλώρος and (Κοινή) Καρδερίνα.
