Description
Városliget Park is Budapest’s grand central park, a huge green space of 120 hectares that has been a public park for more than two centuries. The park has wide paths, big lawns, and a large number of trees and shrubs, as well as several bodies of water and fountains. Birds you can observe include (Ευρωπαϊκός) Κορμοράνος, Σταχτοτσικνιάς, (Κοινή) Καρδερίνα, Δεντροτσοπανάκος, Καλόγερος, Γαλαζοπαπαδίτσα, Κοκκινολαίμης, (Κοινός) Κότσυφας, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Ψαρόνι, Κοκκινότσιχλα, Πευκοδρυοκολάπτης, Κεδρότσιχλα, (Κοινή) Καρακάξα, Hooded Crow, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κάργια, Σπιτοσπουργίτης, Δεντροσπουργίτης and Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια.

Városliget Park sits on the Pest side of Budapest, just northeast of the city center. Easily accessible by public transport (metro, buses). Metro line M1 (Yellow Line), runs directly to the park. If you get off at Hősök tere (1), you step out practically at the edge of the park. If you ride one more stop to Széchenyi fürdő (2), you arrive deeper inside the park. The park is best explored on foot, but there are also designated cycling paths.
