The road between Mavria and Platania is a great road to stop and drive along, and to observe many local breeding species, like Λιοστριτσίδα, Μελωδοτσιροβάκος and Μαυροφτέρι. The small houses and farms a worth a check for (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κουκουβάγια, and the scattered trees are perfect for Δεντροσταρήθρα. The scrubs and bushes are great for many species of shrike, like Κοκκινοκεφαλάς and Παρδαλοκεφαλάς. The rocky outcrops are great for (Δυτικός) Βραχοτσοπανάκος and Φρυγανοτσίχλονο.
During migration, the area is worth to check for species like (Ευρωπαϊκή) Χαλκοκουρούνα, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Μελισσοφάγος and (Ευρωπαϊκός) Συκοφάγος. Raptors are always present, and tend to hang around the hill tops, like Αετογερακίνα.
