Description
Usedomer Strand is located near Peenemünde. From the beach you can easily observe migrating and resting birds. In winter, the Baltic Sea is full of sea ducks (like (Ευρωπαϊκή) Μαυρόπαπια, Χιονόπαπια, Βελουδόπαπια, Σταχτόπαπια) divers (like Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι, , Κοκκινοβουτηχτάρι) and swans. Loons (Κηλιδοβούτι, Λαμπροβούτι) migrate across the Baltic Sea.
In spring, groups of songbirds fly parallel to the dune forest to their breeding areas. From August onwards, individual Limikols (such as Λευκοσκαλίδρα, Λασποσκαλίδρα, Κοκκινοσκαλίδρα, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Στρειδοφάγος) are on the beach and terns are on the water. From the smallest ((Ευρωπαϊκό) Νανογλάρονο) to the largest (Καρατζάς) everything is possible. In late autumn the geese (Ασπρομέτωπη Χήνα, Barnacle Goose, Tundra Bean Goose) fly to their resting areas. (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσαετός is often observed in this area.
