Description
A hike on the Trischendamm in Friedrichskoog-Spitze is great for watching birds. The 2.2 km long damm leads you dry-footed along salt marshes and mudflats. The dam allows a good overview of the area at all times. In May you can observe are large flocks of Κοκκινοσκαλίδρα, Λασποσκαλίδρα, Θαλασσολιμόζα and Λευκοσκαλίδρα. Many other waders like Αμμοσφυριχτής, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Στρειδοφάγος, (Ευρασιατική) Τουρλίδα and Κοκκινοσκέλης can be found. Also (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρομύτα can often be spotted. From July to August tens of thousands of moulting Βαρβάρα are off the coast (good observation conditions early in the morning at high tide). Depending on the tides (see a link to the tides table below) all year round interesting birds can turn up here.
