Wide grassland landscape with scattered trees, including a flooded gravel pit and a lake with some good silt areas for waders during migration.
During spring and summer, common species that can be found at Saalbachniederung Bruchsal are Τσιφτάς, Ποταμοσφυριχτής, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα, (Κοκκινόλαιμο) Νανοβουτηχτάρι, (Κοινό) Μπεκατσίνι, Καστανολαίμης, Μαυρομυγοχάφτης and Τσιχλοποταμίδα. Sometimes a Πορφυροτσικνιάς can be seen, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Μικροτσικνιάς breed since 2021, but often hard to see. In fall, migration is quite good for waders (August to mid October). Common waders like Μαχητής, Λασποσκαλίδρα, Λασπότρυγγας, Δασότρυγγας, Ακτίτης, Κοκκινοσκέλης, Πρασινοσκέλης, Μαυρότρυγγας and (Κοινό) Μπεκατσίνι in small numbers every year, but also often good for rare waders like Δρεπανοσκαλίδρα, Αργυροπούλι, (Ευρασιατική) Τουρλίδα, Σταχτιά Νανοσκαλίδρα, (Κοινή) Νανοσκαλίδραand (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα (often all of these waders every year present but only single individuals). Καλαμοκανάς in 2018 and 2019 with single individuals present. Later in fall (September and October) high numbers of Λευκός Πελαργός, some Μαύρος Πελαργός and (Ευρωπαϊκός) Γερανός. Good numbers of (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκελάδα(up to 30 individuals), some Καστανολαίμης, Μαυρολαίμης, different species of ducks and single Ψαραετός. In reed some (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα and sometimes Στικτοπουλάδα, but difficult to see. In winter single individuals of Διπλοκεφαλάς and Χειμωνόκιρκος.
