Description
Polder Werre once was a shallow bay in the Saaler Bodden, an inland lake on the Baltic Sea. But Polder Werre, was cut off by dykes and has since been used as grassland. Polder Werre is now being renatured with a permanent overflow area. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are Νανογέρακο, Βραχοκιρκίνεζο, (Κοινό) Ξεφτέρι, Καλαμόκιρκος, Hooded Crow, Μουστακαλής, Χειμωνόκιρκος, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Ψαρόνι, Μαυρολαίμης, (Κοινό) Φανέτο, Δεντροσπουργίτης, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Βροχοπούλι, Λασποσκαλίδρα, Αργυροπούλι, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Σφυριχτάρι, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη, Αργυροτσικνιάς, (Βουβός) Κύκνος, Μαυρότρυγγας and Καρατζάς.

The Saaler Bodden forms the southwestern part of the Darss-Zingst Bodden Chain and lies east of the Fischland peninsula about 30 kilometres northeast of Rostock. Polder Werre is located between the villages of Born auf dem Darß and Ahrenshoop. Parking is possible near the Regenbogen Camp campsite. Click on the P in the map for directions. You can make a circular walk of 7 km around the polder.
