Description
The nature reserve of Rümlandteich und Methorstteich is a beautiful area to observe water and forest bird species. You can make larger and smaller walks via hiking trails. Both ponds are drained temporarily (especially in autumn/winter) and then offer particularly interesting observation opportunities (wading birds, wintering (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκελάδα). (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσαετός breed here and can be observed regularly. (Ευρασιατικός) Ήταυρος occasionally call in the reed belt of the Rümlandteich. In the adjacent forest areas, all species of woodpecker are found ( Μαύρος Δρυοκολάπτης, Πράσινος Δρυοκολάπτης, Πευκοδρυοκολάπτης, Μεσαίος Δρυοκολάπτης and Νανοδρυοκολάπτης), as well as (Κοινός) Μπούφος, Δεντρογέρακο, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Σφηκιάρης, Μαυρομυγοχάφτης and, in some years, Νανομυγοχάφτης. In the winter months, many Αγριόκυκνος often stay here during the day. Both bodies of water are also home to 200 Αγριόκυκνος and Νανόκυκνος and up to 800 Ασπρομέτωπη Χήνα and Tundra Bean Goose. In the adjacent grassland you can observe Διπλοκεφαλάς, Χειμωνόκιρκος and many geese in winter.
