Description
The Nebelhorn is a 2224 meter high mountain in the Allgäu Alps east of Oberstdorf. The mountain is easily accessible via the cable car Nebelhornbahn. After leaving the peak cable car you can circle the Nebelhorn peak on a 100m long walkway, that rests on an impressive steel construction attached to the Nebelhorn northern wall. You can enjoy views down into a 600m deep gorge and far over the whole Allgäu. It offers a view of more than 400 mountain peaks in the German, Austrian and Swiss Alps. Further options of short and longer hikes are available from the mountain station (Höfatsblick, 1932 m NN).
Among the birds that can be spotted around the Nebelhorn are Κιτρινοκαλιακούδα, (Κοινός) Χιονόστρουθος, (Κοινός) Κόρακας, Χρυσαετός, , Καρβουνιάρης, Σταχτοπετρόκλης, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Βραχοχελίδονο, , (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκελάδα, Rock Ptarmigan and Χιονοψάλτης
