Description

Müggelsee offers a rich combination of lake, reedbeds and woodlands.

There is a large population of Τσιχλοποταμίδα , and a colony of Μαυρογλάρονο at Die Banke. In winter, when other sites in Berlin can be a bit boring, one can find interesting waterfowl here, including Κοκκινοβουτηχτάρι, Χειμωνοβουτηχτάρι, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα, Βελουδόπαπια and various loons. Manz gulls can also be observed throughout the year.

In the winter 2020 the lake was visited by one of the rarest loons, the White-billed Diver (gavia adamsii).

The woodlands south of the lake, and around the small Teufelsseemoor Köpenick, are home to breeding Νανομυγοχάφτης. This area has its own Birding Places page with further info: https://www.birdingplaces.eu/en/birdingplaces/germany/teufelsseemoor-kopenick. (See the clickable link below)
