Description

The Meiner Stapelteiche area consists of several small ponds with extensive reed beds and shoreline areas, as well as open water and a small wooded area. This structure offers good conditions for a variety of bird species.

Waterfowl such as (Βουβός) Κύκνος, Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Κιρκίρι, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια, Σταχτόχηνα, Βαρβάρα and other water birds can be well observed. Also waders like (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα, Πρασινοσκέλης and Δασότρυγγας use the area as a rest area. The large reedbeds are suitable for species such as (Μεγάλο) Καλαμοτσίχλονο and Γαλαζολαίμης. During migration, the area is attractive to migratory birds. Birds of prey such as (Κοινή) Γερακίνα or Ψαλιδιάρης frequently circle over the surrounding fields and meadows.
