These old fish ponds dating from the 17th century are now a nature reserve. The pond area has many reed belts that attract birds.

Description

Lebrader Teiche is a nature reserve and part of the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park and covers an area of about 144 hectares. In spring and summer mainly grebes and reed-breeding birds, in summer moulting ducks and in autumn, when the ponds are drained, also waders. Birds you can observe in the area include Τσιχλαηδόνι, Κοκκινοβουτηχτάρι, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα, Ποταμογλάρονο, Καλαμοτριλιστής and Σχοινοποταμίδα.

Access

The Lebrader Teiche are located about 7 kilometres north of the town of Plön, near the village of Lebrade. Best observation point from a small viewing platform on the south bank of the western pond on the northern edge of the village of Lebrade. The circular route indicated on the map is about 6 km.
