Description
Open ponds with reed fringes, mudflats and some islands for breeding birds. Apart from a variety of waders and waterfowl the area is quite good for raptors, e.g. Πετρίτης and (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσαετός.
Typical breeding birds: Κοκκινοσκέλης, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αβοκέτα, Ποταμογλάρονο, Γαλαζολαίμης, Σχοινοποταμίδα, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα.
Migration: Any kind of wader, terns, ducks
Winter: Νανοπρίστης and many other duck species, many geese (particularly Barnacle Goose and Ασπρομέτωπη Χήνα), divers, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Βροχοπούλι.
Despite being created only recently the area already held a few national rarities: Νυφογερανός (2014), breeding Καλαμοκανάς (2014), Stilt Sandpiper (2019).

The site can be accessed easily via Ölstraße from Diekmannshausen (2 km), either by car or by bicycle. No public transport available.
