Description
Kiesseen Prettin is a body of water of 112 hectare located on the Elbe River near Prettin. Characteristic are the shoals and the sandbanks, some of which lie in the middle of the water. Almost 50 breeding bird species are known on the site. The waterfowl include (Βουβός) Κύκνος and (Κοινή) Φαλαρίδα. The vertical bank walls are inhabited by Οχθοχελίδονο, and (Ευρωπαϊκός) Στρειδοφάγος breeds on the gravelly flat banks. Καλαμοποταμίδα, Βαλτοποταμίδα and (Μεγάλο) Καλαμοτσίχλονο live in the reed beds, while (Κοινό) Αηδόνι and Υφάντρα live in the damp wood along the banks. The dry bushes are inhabited by Αετομάχος, Θαμνοτσιροβάκος and Lesser Whitethroat, while Βραχοκιρκίνεζο, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Συκοφάγος and Δεντροσπουργίτης breed in the trees. Καμπίσια Πέρδικα, Καστανολαίμης, Σκορταλλός and Σταχτοπετρόκλης live on the ruderal and barren areas. The gravel lakes are also important for resting migrating waterfowl, especially Tundra Bean Goose, Ασπρομέτωπη Χήνα, Γκισάρι, Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια and Χηνοπρίστης.
