Description
Fermasee and the floodplain of Altrhein Neuburgweier attract many birds. Parts of the lake are used by anglers and for bathing in summer. However, in winter the birds take the centre stage. There are often good numbers of Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια, Γκισάρι, Καπακλής, Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια and (Βουβός) Κύκνος. If you are lucky, you can also see (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα, (Ευρασιατικό) Φερεντίνι and Νανοπρίστης here. Over the years, a number of rarer sea ducks and divers have been observed here, including Βελουδόπαπια, Θαλασσοπρίστης, Χειμωνοβουτηχτάρι and Κηλιδοβούτι.
The orchards and fields to the east of the lake are a good place to look out for Κεδρότσιχλα, Κοκκινότσιχλα, Χαβαρόνι and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Κάργια.
