Description
Stretching along the western slopes of the Odenwald mountain, the area between the villages of Dossenheim and Schriesheim not only offers great views over the Rhine valley, but is also a protected Natura 2000 site with a rich avivauna. On the lower reaches of the hills, a mosaic of vineyards, orchards, and meadows provides a habitat for many bird species, including Αετομάχος, Σταχτής Δρυοκολάπτης, Στραβολαίμης, Σιρλοτσίχλονο, and the rare Βουνοτσίχλονο. In the forested upper reaches, Μεσαίος Δρυοκολάπτης, Μαύρος Δρυοκολάπτης, and Δασοφυλλοσκόπος can be found. Moreover, (Κοινός) Μπούφος breed in the abandoned quarries nearby.
