Reservoir located on the watershed between the Elbe and Mulde. Very good for waders during autumn migration.
The Döllnitzsee is an artificial lake close to the village of Wermsdorf. In winter many ducks, geese, grebes and Χηνοπρίστης stay here. Also in spring and during spring migration many nice birds can be observed. in summer there are significantly fewer birds to be seen. You might want to skip the area then. But the best time for a visit is during the autumn migration. Especially the small lagoon in the northwest part of the lake is a magnet for birds. Depending on the water level a surprising number of waders can show up from mid-August to October. Among the waders that can be seen here in this period are Λασπότρυγγας, Μαχητής, Μαυρότρυγγας, Πρασινοσκέλης, Ακτίτης, Δασότρυγγας, Αμμοσφυριχτής, (Κοινό) Μπεκατσίνι, Δρεπανοσκαλίδρα and Λασποσκαλίδρα. Sometimes also Σταχτιά Νανοσκαλίδρα, (Κοινή) Νανοσκαλίδρα and Λευκοσκαλίδρα.
The Döllnitzsee is located near the village of Wermsdorf. You can park on the parking near Hotel Seehof Döllnitzsee. Click on the P in the map to get directions. You can make a circular walk around the Döllnitzsee (about 8 km), but often birds are concentrated in the lagoon opposite Hotel Seehof Döllnitzsee.
