Description
Breeding site for a good number of open woodland species, close to wet meadows and reedbeds. The Hemmelsdorfer See /Lake is good for resting waterfowls and its reedbeds hold typical reedbed species. The watchtower is also excellent for watching raptors such as (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσαετός or (Κοινή) Γερακίνα. Corncrake is rare but possible on the edge between the meadows and farmland. Beware of the fact that there are birdcalls coming from the nearby birdpark, such as Eagle Owl or Cranes from China! There is also a flock of free flying Sacred Ibisis.

Park at the Vogelpark Niendorf. There is a bus number 40 coming from Lübeck. The reserve itself is good for walking, a bike can be usefull.
