Description
Batumi Boulevard Park can be surprisingly good for birdwatching. Especially on rainy days during the migration season, many migrants come down. The park, especially its north end, often teems with passerines, which are easy to find and observe. Νανομυγοχάφτης can be abundant, and Τσιχλαηδόνι give very good views. Στραβολαίμης, (Κοινός) Φοινίκουρος, Mountain Chiffchaff (Caucasian), Green Warbler, Μαυροσκούφης, Κηποτσιροβάκος, Lesser Whitethroat, Θαμνοτσιροβάκος and Σταχτομυγοχάφτης are often numerous, and occasionally something rare turns up. Check the branches of the pines for sleeping (Ευρωπαϊκό) Γιδοβύζι and (Ευρωπαϊκός) Γκιώνης.
Going further north, there was a good grassy area near the Ferris wheel, but most of this area is now fenced. This was a really good spot for all sorts of migrants, but still worth checking the areas outside the fence in early morning even if you only have an hour or so. Birds that have been spotted here include (Κοινό) Ορτύκι, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Τρυγόνι, Βλαχοτσίχλονο, Αμπελουργός, Γερακοτσιροβάκος, Γαλαζολαίμης, Τσιχλοποταμίδα, Καλαμοτριλιστής, Κοκκινοκελάδα, Σταχτοκεφαλάς and Αετομάχος.
