Description
Neuvry is a very good spot for waterbirds, and also for local rarities. Μαυροκέφαλος Γλάρος and Καστανοκέφαλος Γλάρος breed in small numbers, as do (Ευρασιατικό) Φερεντίνι , Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια and Μαυροβουτηχτάρι. Γελαδάρης, Αργυροτσικνιάς and (Κοινός) Λευκοτσικνιάς are all regular. Waders are quite common in stopover, especially Tringa sandpipers. Κουφομπεκάτσινο winters in the area.
Νανόγλαρος , Μουστακογλάρονο, Μαυρογλάρονο and Ψαραετός are regular. This also a good place for ducks in migration period. Among the recent rarities are Βαλτότρυγγας , (Ξανθός) Κρυπτοτσικνιάς , Χιονόπαπια , Κοκκινοβουτηχτάρι , Σταχτιά Νανοσκαλίδρα and Χιονογλάρονο.

Access
The gravel pit is located directly north of the village of Neuvry. By car only (no train station around). You can go first to the western bird hide, and then walk along the eastern shore of the lake on the dirt road. Be careful, driving is forbidden on the dirt road around the lake, you're in a Natural Reserve, you may be fined. The circular walking route is about 4,5 km.
