Still an active gravel quarry but visiting is possible during the weekend or after 5/6pm during spring/summer evening.
During migration and winter the water bodies can host lots of ducks if they have not been flushed by fishermen or hunters, among which several dozens of Γκισάρι and Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια and several hundreds of (Κοινή) Φαλαρίδα . A rarity such as the Βελουδόπαπια or Σταχτόπαπια is always possible in winter. Still in winter but above all during October-November and March the wet grassland is a very good spot for (Κοινό) Μπεκατσίνι and Κουφομπεκάτσινο.
In summer typical breeders include Ποταμογλάρονο and Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι on the lake, Αετομάχος in the bushes or Λιβαδοκελάδα in the grassland.
In late summer and early autumn when water level drops the south-western water body can be very good for waders particularly Λασπότρυγγας or for a Μαύρος Πελαργός stopover. In spring when water level is higher, Μαυρογλάρονο , Μουστακογλάρονο or Νανόγλαρος are regularly seen foraging over water.
You can park in the village or near the fence indicating the quarry entry. The area is best explored by walking.
During autumn and winter weekends, it's better to explore the area on Saturday because hunters are regular on Sunday.
