Description
Tissø is the 4th largest freshwater lake in Denmark. It is easy to acces and overlook. Tissø is home to a rich and varied birdlife and (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσαετός breeds here and it is easy to see. Also Ψαραετός can be seen. On the lake itself Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι, Χηνοπρίστης, various dabbling and diving ducks, geese and (Κοινή) Φαλαρίδα are usual residents. The beach meadows and reed beds house many foraging and breeding birds like (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αβοκέτα, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Νανογλάρονο, (Μεγάλο) Καλαμοτσίχλονο, Καλαμόκιρκος in addition to (Ευρασιατικός) Ήταυρος, Μουστακαλής and Θαμνοτριλιστής.

Almost all of the lakeside is on private hands, but there is a publicly accessible birdwatching tower near Fugledegård. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the parking. From there it's a 500 meter walk to the observation tower.
