Description

Sølsted Mose has is an old heath bog that has been restored after it was drained and cultivated during the 1900s. Much of the scrub has been cleared, the water level has been raised in parts and cattle graze the open areas. This means that the special heath bog plants will be protected and has improved conditions for birdlife. The open areas in the bog support typical birds such as (Ευρασιατικός) Ήταυρος, (Κοινό) Μπεκατσίνι, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα, Καστανολαίμης, Μαυρολαίμης, Καλαμοτριλιστής and Θαμνοτριλιστής. Sølsted Mose has one of Denmark's densest breeding populations of Γαλαζολαίμης, with upto 30 pairs. Καλαμόκιρκος also nests here. Also Υφάντρα and (Ευρωπαϊκός) Γερανός breed in the bog.
