Description

Nyord is a small island and besides the farmland, the island consists of 400 hectares of beach meadows. In winter these are flooded with seawater. These meadows are known as one of the best habitats for wading and swimming birds in Denmark. In spring, many birds breed here. From the tower you can observe waders here such as Πρασινοσκέλης, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αβοκέτα, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα, Κοκκινοσκέλης. There is also a chance of seeing (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσαετός, Ψαραετός, Πετρίτης or Λιβαδόκιρκος. You can take a walk to the village past the Hyldevang Nature Center and see birds along the way such as Δεντροσπουργίτης, (Κοινό) Φανέτο, Κιτρινοσουσουράδα en Μαυρολαίμης. In the small harbour you can see Ποταμογλάρονο hunting for fish and maybe find a (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσοκόρακας.
