Description
The Slatina area is an important breeding site for many birds connected to reedbeds such as (Ευρωπαϊκός) Μικροτσικνιάς (the only location of this species in Prague), Καλαμοτριλιστής, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα, Τσιχλοποταμίδα, Καλαμοποταμίδα, Αρκοπετείναρο or (Μεγάλο) Καλαμοτσίχλονο. Also the Καλαμόκιρκος is breeding here. On the pond itself breeds many pairs of Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι, (Κοινή) Φαλαρίδα, Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια and a few pairs of Γκισάρι and Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια. In the linked rural areas breed Αετομάχος, Θαμνοτριλιστής, (Κοινό) Αηδόνι and many others. Nearby there is a breeding site of Οχθοχελίδονο.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Γαλαζολαίμης, Καστανολαίμης, Μαυρολαίμης, Μαυρομυγοχάφτης, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα and many other species of waterfowl, (Κοινό) Μπεκατσίνι, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα and many, many more species.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch (Ευρωπαϊκό) Ψαρόνι murmuration. Also σταβλοχελίδονο and Κιτρινοσουσουράδα come here to spend a night.
During the weekend the location can be overcrowded by people such as fishermen or bikers so I recommend you to visit the location during weekdays. Please do not disturb birds in their breeding habitats and use just visible pathways!

Access
Easily accesible by car. There is a small parking lot in the north of the pond. You can also arrive by public transport using a bus to station Dolnoměcholupská and then 30 minutes walking using the biking trail. It is possible to make a circular route, but only the eastern side of the pond has a paved road.
