Description
Neretva River Mouth is a complex of wetland habitats. Vast areas by the banks of the Neretva River and its tributaries are richly developed habitats with reedbeds, as well as other riparian plants. The mouth of the Neretva River combines vast lagoons, shallow sand bays, low sandy shores and shoals, and salt marshes. Reclaimed land is covered by broad arable fields with a well developed network of irrigation channels. Here dwells Croatia's largest breeding populations of (Ευρασιατικός) Ήταυρος and Νανοπουλάδα. Some of the other birds you can see here are (Ευρωπαϊκός) Μικροτσικνιάς, Καλαμόκιρκος, Στικτοπουλάδα, Μουστακαλής, Λαγγόνα, Πορφυροτσικνιάς, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρομύτα, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Χαλκοκουρούνα, Ωχροκελάδα and Αετομάχος.
