Description
In the winter period, this area is a popular resting place for large numbers of ducks. Χειμωνόκιρκος is also on the job every year, just like the noisy (Ευρωπαϊκό) Ψευταηδόνι. In the spring it is on the puddles near the river Ijzer a coming and going of passing waders. For species such as (Ευρασιατική) Τουρλίδα, (Κοινό) Μπεκατσίνι , (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα , (Ευρωπαϊκή) Καλημάνα , Κοκκινοσκέλης , Λασπότρυγγας , Δασότρυγγας it is an important stopover on the way to the northern breeding areas. Other notable spring guests are (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρομύτα , (Κοινός) Λευκοτσικνιάς and Αργυροτσικνιάς. In the varied area, birds such as Γαλαζολαίμης and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αβοκέτα breed.
